Complaint about administrators.

Hi there.

I'm an avid DD racer. I've been joining your server more than I could ever imagine myself doing, before I noticed there was a server as this.

In my time racing on the server, I've always encountered sometimes strict but always fair administrative use.
Some were kicked for constantly disobeying rules of the server. Given numerous chances before they were actually kicked or ultimately banned.
Some were kicked or banned for insulting others, but also because some were insulting administrators purposefully. Now, I realize this is just as fair.

I was just on your server, and Spongey came online. He had a problem with the use of a AS5r layout, which he said was private, questioning why Techno was using it. Instantly after that, the race ended and track switches. I start arguing why it was private, but not really searching for an answer to that, but even more so why it in the first place was used, as far as I know, up to a week before today. I never really got to my point of saying I wanted to make a layout just like it out of memory, simply because it's too good a layout to keep from the public, which this server in reality is thriving on. I did not get to this point, because I was kicked by Spongey for putting up the argument to start with. Sure, if he doesn't want to argue, thats what he could have said. Instead I got the kick. Upon rejoining I asked if I was kicked, and why.
What bothers me IMMENSELY here, is that the answer arrogantly was because (roughly) I was arguing with him and meddling and what not. Furthermore I was threatened to be kicked and banned because I kept asking why that was fair in their eyes. By "their" I mean Spongey and some dude with the characters "x-" in his name.

I realize I am not paying a single dime for having the server run. I realize I am not even entitled for an opinion (although I was hoping that this wasn't a totalitarian type of server, where no one was allowed to have their say, before shit starts falling down on them, thus rendering me able to actually have an opinion nevertheless). I realize also that the administrators set the rules. BUT.. It IS a public server, and even though there is quite a big amount of, well, stupid members of the LFS community also joining your server, I am betting they will stop being mindless followers of such practice of improper administrative tools, after enough "examples" have been made of those who starts arguments. I noticed a few players on the server actually, well, "sided" with me on it, pompously saying stuff like 'ooh, big administrator can ban and kick' and what not, which indicated something got their minds going about the behavior.

But in all essence, my whole point with this complaint is, that if you absolutely have to kick or ban someone, please let it be for a fair reason, and don't just be mindless and do it as you please because you are "not in the mood for arguments". It's just wrong. It's a public server and as administrators of a public server which, as written earlier, thrive on users joining to get a nice and fun experience, there needs to be a curbing of natural tendencies to run amok if someone questions your decisions, and just suck it up.

I'll gladly help administrate, and I'd even donate whilst being one. Heck, I'd even donate now, if it meant that not I, nor anyone else, would be kicked or banned without fair reasoning.

As a [CAD] admin I do feel that I have to comment on this matter.

I do agree that certain members of the [CAD] admin team have an autocratic stance to the running of the server; I even voiced this opinion a while back. But I just hope that some server guests who have unfortunately met one of these "i'm admin so f u and yr opinions" type people haven't been put off the server by it.

In my own personal opinion, I do try to be a relaxed admin, i.e. I give out warnings and kick people before the eventual ban, but some of the team aren't like this. If you check pretty much all the reports I've responded to in the Reporting People section of the forum, then you'll see that I've given out six warnings before a permanent ban to those who have never been banned before. Some people would probably think that this is way too lenient but I don't think so.

Regarding input from visitors to the server, I am all for this. If people don't find our mistakes then how are we able to attempt to fix them? Ignoring these people is stupid if we, the [CAD] team, want to drive the server forward.

Hopefully more people will follow Sothis' example and post things like this, because we do appreciate the input.

Dear Sothis, thank you for writing the third version of the bible for us. Just kidding ^^ I was having a discussion with Zak_mull ([CAD] Zakky) why he used this layout, i even wonder how he got it. All i wanted to tell him, is to not use the layout. i really putted hours and hours of work in that one, altho he did use the unfinished one. While i was having the small discussion with Zakky, you came in & meddled in the situation. I didnt like that, so i kicked you. You rejoined, did it again, & then Zakky kicked u, altho i didnt ask him to do that. You rejoined again, and if im correct, you started threatning me to report me to the LFS developers, and i really didnt like that. My mouse was on the ban button, but Zakky beated me to it and gave u a 1 day ban. I am sorry for this to happen, but next time, listen to an admin when he asks you.
